The system enables freedom of mobility, increased ultrafiltration efficacy as well as enhanced quality of life for Congestive Heart Failure patients with fluid overload
Patients with congestive heart failure suffer from water overload and edema. Peritoneal ultrafiltration is one option to treat this syndrome in severe cases. The ultrafiltration efficacy of glucose-based PD therapies is limited by the rapid uptake of glucose. The Carry Life Cardio device delivers glucose, individually adjustable, to the recirculating intraperitoneal solution to compensate for the uptake of glucose. This will maintain a stable glucose level and thereby obtain the desired fluid removal. The device is designed to be used for up to 24 hours without manipulation of patient line connectors.
